Sustainable Garden Renovation

The sustainable garden renovation is for those who would love to enjoy their green space more, and make a positive difference for biodiversity, but lack the knowledge, or time, to make this a reality on their own.

Our goal is work with the space and the resources you already have, to increase biodiversity while keeping costs low.

We have two garden plans to offer:

  • Flower garden, with fixed plantings for either sunny or shady gardens;

  • Miniature food forest, available for sunny areas only.

How it works:

  1. A garden coach will visit your garden, to look at the space, and hear your wishes. Our coach will advise on the renovation or maintenance possibilities, and will give a plan for approval.

  2. You work in the garden of a neighbour, for one afternoon, under the supervision of a garden coach. The garden coach teaches you both, so you learn as you garden! Tasks will likely include weeding, pruning, digging new earth, and planting.

  3. A neighbour, and the garden coach, will work in your garden for one afternoon, in order to complete your garden. We’ll also discuss ongoing maintenance, and give tips to keep your garden alive!

  4. After the planting of your new garden, you are given a free subscription to our WhatsApp group for 3 months, for advice on maintenance, and any questions related to your garden.

What does it cost?

  • You pay for the hours of the garden coach.

  • You pay for the costs of any new plants for your own garden - we keep this low by providing a network where you can shares plants and cuttings with others.

  • If it’s needed to remove tiles and sand, and to bring in earth, there is an additional cost for this.

  • By helping with the garden yourself, and helping in a neighbours garden, we can complete the gardens quickly, and keep labour costs low!

What is included in the renovation?

  • Pruning, weeding, and planting;

  • Formation of new flower beds through digging up grass, or removing/shifting tiles and sand;

  • Reorganising the space to allow for maximum use (by both people and plants)

Work that we don’t offer:

  • Building of fences, gates, or sheds/outhouses

  • Laying of new concrete or tiles
